Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Cowart brings extensive experience and expertise in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. He holds a Master in Business Administration degree from Webster University, and a BA in Psychology from University of Florida.
Tim Cowart began his career at The Centers in 2002 as the Social Services Coordinator working directly with physicians, nursing staff, and patients on the Crisis Stabilization Unit. After moving to administration in the role of Financial Analyst for three years, he left to pursue an opportunity to gain experience in the private for-profit sector as the Corporate Controller for a $40 million tractor company. In 2011 he was recruited back to The Centers to assume the position of CFO. In 2013 Mr. Cowart was promoted to Senior VP of Operations and Finance serving as second in command under CEO Charles R. Powell prior to his sudden passing on March 12, 2014. Mr. Cowart guided The Centers through the transition and, following a national search conducted by the Board of Directors, was appointed to serve as CEO in July of 2014.
Upon acceptance of his position Mr. Cowart said, “It is a great honor to have the opportunity to lead The Centers and the remarkable group of individuals that make up our organization. I am excited to continue the forward momentum created under Charles’ leadership while integrating my own vision to ensure that we continue to strengthen the impact we make in the lives of those we touch in our communities.”
