Contracted as a Case Management Agency (CMA) through Kids Central, Inc., The Centers provides protective supervision services to children and their families regarding issues of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or exploitation by the child’s parent or guardian. In addition, The Centers provides emergency intervention therapy to individuals and families whose children are at risk of removal.
CMA programs include:
- Family Care Management Services for children in foster and kinship care.
- Family Early Engagement Team
- Family Connections & Safety Response Team
- Intensive Reunification Program
- Family Behavioral Therapy (in-home counseling)
- Full range of mental health and substance abuse services for children and families.
Any person in the community can report suspected abuse or neglect to Florida’s abuse hotline at 1-800-ABUSE. A child protective investigator (CPI) meets with the family to determine if the child is at risk of abuse or neglect and to what degree. If warranted, the CPI staffs the case to the local Community Based Care agency (Kids Central, Inc.) and The Centers becomes involved as a lead Case Management Agency. We work with families who are experiencing an acute or chronic situation where, for some amount of time, they have been unable to make sure their child is safe. The family is offered services either voluntarily or through order of the court in an attempt to alleviate the risk of abuse, neglect or abandonment. Efforts are made to assess trauma to all parties to better understand which services would best help the family. The services are provided to the family through the provision of referrals to community providers. Each family is assigned a Family Care Manager (FCM) who provides protective supervision over the child through a minimum of monthly visits to the home where the child resides. Our primary goal is to safely maintain or reunify children with their parents.
